  • Mufsin holds a Ph.D. in the area of Public Policy & Management from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta, India. He also has an M.Phil. in Planning & Development from IIT Bombay and completed his 5-year Integrated Master’s degree (First Rank and Gold Medal)  from the University of Hyderabad. His doctoral research focuses on the job search and international labour migration of the Mappila community in Kerala, India. Additionally, he has qualified for the UGC Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and was a DAAD Ph.D. Exchange Fellow (2019-2020) at the Georg‐August‐Universität Göttingen, Germany. In 2022, he successfully completed a Research Fellowship at Ashoka University’s Centre for Social Impact and Philanthropy (CSIP).

     

    Mufsin’s work has been published in numerous national and international peer-reviewed and Scopus-Indexed Journals, including Global Change, Peace & SecurityJournal of Ethnic and Migration StudiesEconomic & Political WeeklyJournal of the Anthropological Survey of IndiaSociological Bulletin, and Decision. Moreover, he has presented his research at several renowned universities, including the University of Edinburgh, the University of Vienna, the University of Göttingen, St. Petersburg University, Utrecht University, Seoul National University, South Asian University, and the French Institute of Pondicherry. His research interests include labour migration, social networks, immigrant entrepreneurship, philanthropy, and public policy in contemporary India and the Persian Gulf.
