Sambuddha Chaudhuri graduated with a Bachelor in Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) from the West Bengal University of Health Sciences in 2010 and a PhD in Social Welfare from the School of Social Policy and Practice at the University of Pennsylvania in 2017. He worked as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, Centre for Policy Studies from 2018 to 2021.
His areas of interest are social epidemiology, social determinants of health, and policy theory. His work includes analysis of the policy process, implementation and evaluation for public health issues around infectious diseases like tuberculosis and HIV, with a focus on the individual, meso and macro level changes that allow for a comprehensive understanding of problems such as low adherence, access to care and post care follow up. He has worked with community-based organizations in Kolkata and New York City on gender, sexuality, health-care access, adherence to medication, health education, substance use, behavioural economics and social organization. He has taught graduate and post graduate courses on social policy, health policy, epidemiology and qualitative methods.
