  • Ashwin is a sociologist studying power relations, policing and state development. He has recently submitted his Ph.D. thesis in Sociology at the School of Liberal Studies, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University Delhi (AUD). His doctoral research is an ethnographic study tracing dominant power relations in the everyday of police stations. He was awarded the UGC-NET JRF and SRF in Sociology. He holds M.A. degrees in Sociology (AUD) as well as English (St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi). Along with his M.A. research on policing, he has spent nearly six years studying policing and state formations in India. He has previously worked as a Research Assistant to Legislators at Rajiv Gandhi Institute for Contemporary Studies (RGICS), New Delhi. His broader research interests include political sociology, sociology of law, governance, political economy, theories of everyday and ethnographic methods.
