  • Nana Gochiashvili is Assistant Professor and Assistant Dean, Jindal Global Law School of O.P. Jindal Global University. She holds an LL.M. from the University of Syracuse, MSW from Ilia State University, and LL.B. and BA in History of International Relations and Diplomacy, both from Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.

    Before Joining JGLS, she worked as an invited lecturer at Ilia State University for master-level students on Advocacy and Professional Ethics in Special and Inclusive Education. She was a Practice Coordinator for Bachelor students of Social Work at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.

    Nana Gochiashvili has more than 12-year-experience of working in the field of human rights protection, advocacy, and research. She has extensive practice working on cases of children, persons with disabilities, and mental health issues. In the last five years, she has gained extensive experience in disability and children’s rights, providing consultations, recommendations, and legal aid to persons with disabilities and their families. This experience has given her a unique opportunity to work on individual cases. It also has assigned her to develop communication with international organizations by writing individual claims and alternative reports for UPR, UN, CRC, CEDAW, and CRPD.

    Since 2012 she has been contracted by international organizations (OSGF, UNDP, WVI in Georgia) within the framework of different assignments such as elaborating shadow reports and numerous research reports. Besides that, she has more than 8-year-project-coordination experience in disability rights, child protection, and the welfare system.

    Assistant Professor Gochiashvili has been awarded the Disability Rights Scholarship Program of Open Society Foundations (2021-2022). Her areas of working are Disability Law and Policy and the rights of children and women. Her research interests are the Human Rights-Based Approach in Social Work Profession, Intersectionality and Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), Supported decision-making model and personalized support services, and Human Rights indicators on the CRPD to advance the rights of persons with disabilities.
