Swetasree Ghosh Roy is a Professor of Political Science at Jindal School of Government and Public Policy, O.P. Jindal Global University. She completed her doctoral degree in Politics and Government from Louisiana State University (LSU), Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Her areas of specialization during graduate studies have been International Relations and Comparative Politics. She holds a Master’s Degree in International Relations and M.Phil in East Asian Studies (China) from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi.
Her research interest includes international and domestic conflict processes, international institutions, political economy, and comparative political systems. She has publications in Scopus indexed journals of international readership.
At present, her research interests are concentrated in areas of youth bulge and civil unrest. Before joining JSGP in 2020, she has taught at universities in United States and UAE. She has taught courses on theories of international relations, comparative political systems, media and politics, world civilizations and research methods. She teaches courses for the public policy program at JSGP for both undergraduate and graduate students. She has also taught courses for Master’s in Public Policy in JSGP Online Program on the Coursera platform.
She has over 10 years’ experience of working in the development sector. While in India, She has worked with Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD) and UNICEF-India country office on UN Convention of Rights of Children (UNCRC). She has also worked as policy analyst at Global March Against Child Labour (now Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation), Participatory Research in Asia (PRIA), PRAYAS, etc. At LSU, she was research assistant and policy analyst at Public Policy Research Lab.
