  • Prof. Hamsini Marada is an Assistant Professor at Jindal Global Law School. She holds a Bachelors in Law from ILS Law College, Pune and Masters in Law (LLM) from the University of Cambridge with a specialisation in International Law. She was the Journal’s Chief at the Cambridge University Human Rights Law Society. After Cambridge, she also completed an advance course in Investment Treaty Arbitration from the Arbitration Academy in Paris, France.

    Prior to joining JGLS, Hamsini clerked at the Delhi High Court for Hon’ble Ms. Justice Mukta Gupta when she was presiding over commercial and criminal law matters. Hamsini has extensively researched and worked on matters pertaining to intellectual property law, arbitration, criminal writ petitions, narcotics, corruption and money laundering cases during her time at the High Court. She has also worked with Teach For India, Pune as a Campaign Leader to build awareness about the educational crisis in India during her undergraduate degree.

    Hamsini is broadly oriented towards socio-legal studies with an emphasis on comparative constitutional law, philosophy of aesthetics, and criminal law. In this realm, she is particularly interested in the intersection of art, law, culture and politics. As someone who is passionate about painting and photography, her current work pertains to the protection of rights of artists and their artworks. Through her research, she is also working on developing creative strategies to increase access to law through art in India and South Asia by works of art in the nature of street art, graffiti writing, protest art and artworks in digital spaces.

    She has previously taught courses in criminal law, law of contracts and alternative dispute resolution. She also teaches an elective titled Sounds and Silences of Law in Art: Identity, Access and Activism. She is also currently engaged in developing an art portfolio intended to be a compilation of personal projects and other work interests
